Background

Government of Cambodia planned to develop 2x350 MW Botum Sakor Coal Fired Power Plant Project located in Botum Sakor, Koh Kong province of Cambodia. Botum Sakor Energy Co Ltd was the Build-Own-Operate concession developer of the project. On Feb 07 2020, Botum Sakor Energy Co Ltd signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Government of Cambodia to allow the Government of Cambodia to buy back the electricity at a price of 7.292 cents per unit. Sinosteel Equipment & Engineering Co Ltd was the EPC contractor of the project, the contract value was about US$ 1106.5 million. The project covered the construction of 2x350 MW coal fired power plant. The project will provide a stable base of electricity supply to all areas in need, such as housing, industry and other services. This project was to response to severe power outages in 2019.
