Novi Sad - Subotica Railway Reconstruction Project

Also known as: Novi Sad-Subotica-State Border(Kelebija) Railway Reconstruction, Belgrade-Budapest Railway Novi Sad-Subotica Segment
Ongoing

Background

Government of Republic of Kenya planned to develop Novi Sad - Subotica Railway Reconstruction Project, in Novi Sad, South Backa, Serbia. The consortium of China Railway International Group Co Ltd and China Communications Construction Co Ltd was the construction contractor of the project. The project covered the construction of reconstruction of a 108.1 km railway, construction of underpasses, railway stations and so on. This railway section was one part of the Belgrade-Budapest railway. The project was expected to reconstruct the existing single-track line and to build a new second track thus forming a modern high performance double-track line for mixed (passenger and freight) transport and speed to 200 km/h, which would greatly reduce the traffic time and help motivate development of many industries.
