Background

The Government of the Republic of Serbia planned to develop Belgrade - Stara Pazova Railway Reconstruction Project, in Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia. Consortium of China Railway International Group Co Ltd and China Communications Construction Co Ltd was construction contractor of the project. China Railways Materials Group Corp was the integrated services provider of the project which included international procurement, onsite supply organization, base operation, international delivery, and so on. Institute of Transporation CIP Ltd was the design consultant of the project. The project covered the reconstruction of a 34.5 km railway from Belgrade to Stara Pazova, Serbia. The project was expected to reconstruct the existing single-track line and to build a new second track thus forming a modern high performance double-track line for mixed (passenger and freight) transport and speed to 200 km/h, which would greatly reduce the traffic time and help motivate development of many industries.
