KISR - Al Shakaaya Renewable Energy Phase 2

Also known as: Al Dabdaba Solar Power Project


Kuwait National Petroleum Co. KSC plans to build Dibdibah solar power plant as a part of the country’s plans to produce 15% of power from renewable energy by 2030 at Al Shegaya Renewable Energy Park located west of Kuwait City. The project aims at replacing the need for 5.2 million barrels of oil a year and reducing carbon emissions by 1.3 million tons annually. The project covers the construction of 1500 MW solar power plant spread over a land area of 32,000 sq.m will produce 1.5 MW electricity including all related facilities. It also includes construction of substations, the installation of solar panels, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
