Background

Ethiopian Roads Authority plans to develop Mizan to Dima to Boma Road Upgrading Project - Mizan to Dima Section, in Mizan, Bench Maji, Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People's Region, Ethiopia. JV of Aarve Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd. and Net Consult Consulting Engineers & Architects Plc was the construction supervision consultant of the project. MCC 17 was the general construction contractor of the project. The project covers the construction of engineering work of 3.49 million m³ of subgrade earth and stone, 480,000 m³ of subbase and base gravel, and 820,000 m² of asphalt surface layer. There were 149 roadbed culverts, 140,000 m³ of stone drainage ditch and 2 bridges in the project. The road was expected to help to link southern part of Ethiopia with South Sudan and also enable to enhance economic and social ties between the two countries. The road also interconnected different towns in South Ethiopia.
