Government of Bangladesh planned to develop Joydevpur to Ishwardi Double-Track Rail Project, in Joydevpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh. China Civil Engineering Construction Corp was the construction contractor. The corridor started from Joydevpur and ended in Iswardi of Pabna, stretching over the Bangabandhu bridge over the Jamuna river. Currently, the corridor has a mixed gauge single line, but the project will improve it to a mixed gauge double-line to enhance line capacity to carry more passengers and goods. The project covered the upgrading of 173 km rail. The project was one of the top ten priority development projects in Bangladesh and was a key part of the Pan-Asian Railway Network and an important part of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor.
