Background

Federal Ministry of Transportation planned to develop Abuja Airport New Terminal Building Project, in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria. The project covered the construction of 56,000 square meter built up area including: 4-storey modern passenger terminal building, 2-storey freight terminal building, 20,000 square meters of apron and related supporting facilities, 66 check-in counters, 5 baggage carousels, 28 immigration checkpoints, 16 Departure immigration checkpoint. On completion, the terminal would be able to received 15 million passengers per year. The terminal realized a seamless docking of air-to-rail transfers, greatly improving the traffic environment of the capital and changing the way people travel. The Nigerian government was committed to building the terminal into an aviation hub in West Africa and promoting the formation of the economic zone of the Nigerian capital.
