Background

Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport - Cambodia planned to develop Cambodia Improving School Environmental and Educational Facilities Project, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The consultant of the project was JV of Institute of Shanghai Architectural Design and Research Co Ltd and Guangzhou Suike Construction Management Co Ltd (PMC). The contractor of the project was Yunnan Construction Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. The project covered 27 schools in three provinces of Camdodia: Phnom Penh, Gandan and Kampong Cham. It would provide children's classes, accommodations, activities and other places for the surrounding villages and towns, and provide teaching equipment and daily necessities for teachers' teaching. The project included the constructions of total of 26 middle schools and 1 teacher training school, it was planned to build 23 teaching buildings, 17 experimental office complexes, 1 dormitory and football, basketball, water well and other infrastructure. The construction period was 24 months. The project aimed to improve educational facilities and environment in Cambodia, and further close Cambodia-China relations. It would also support the development of the 'Belt and Road Initiative' in Cambodia.
