Background

Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise planned to develop Nigerian Lekki Deep Sea Port - Phase 1 - Breakwater and Yard, in Lekki Port, Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria. The contractors of the project were China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd.(EPC) and CCCC Fourth Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd.(contruction). The project included construction as following: 2.3km of breakwater, and 470,000 square meters of rear yard (including supporting auxiliary construction area and self-supplied power plant). The project would greatly enhance the level of Nigerian shipping and play a positive role in promoting the economic recovery and growth plan of the Nigerian federal government. After the project was completed, Lekki Port would become one of the largest deep-water ports in West Africa, playing a pivotal role in the entire regional port. It would also support the service the 'Belt and Road Initiative' in Nigeria.
