Oman OPWP - Duqm 1200 Clean Coal Fired IPP

Ongoing

Background

Oman Power & Water Procurement Company SAOC plans to develop a clean coal fired IPP in Duqm, Al Wusta Governorate, Oman. The move underscores an energetic effort by Oman’s authorities to end the dominance of natural gas as the principal fuel source for power generation and water desalination in the Sultanate. The project covers the construction of a 1,200 MW clean coal fired independent power plant including solar photovoltaic (PV) based renewables and potentially waste-to-energy schemes as well. Poyry Infra AG is the techno-feasibility study consultant.
