Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) planned to develop Kuala Lumpur Plaza Rakyat Project, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Profit Consortium Sdn Bhd was the general contractor. China Railway Construction Corp (CRCC) was the construction contractor of the T2 Ring Beam Support and Removal of the project. The original plan covered the construction of a 79-storey office tower, a 46-storey condominium, a 24-storey hotel, and a large-scale shopping center. The whole project was initiated in the 1990s but got resumed because of the 1997 Asian financial crisis. It remained abandoned as of early 2020. The project was of great value to Malaysia because it would become a landmark skyscraper in the central part of Kuala Lumpur. It was also considered an important project in the Belt& Road Initiative to promote the cooperation of Chinese and Malaysian companies, as well as the overall development of Malaysia.
