Government of the United Kingdom planned to develop United Kingdom High Speed 2 Project, in London, London, United Kingdom. The project would be constructed in 2 phases. Phase 1 was from London to West Midlands with length of 192 km. Phase 2 was from West Midlands to Leeds and Manchester with length of 216 km. China and Britain agreed to promote China's participation in the construction of the second phase of the project, including railway development planning, legal and regulatory, and railway construction. Chinese state-owned enterprises are now participating in bidding for railway construction. The project would provide better transport links to 8 of the 10 largest cities in the UK. This high-speed project was of important politically and economically.
