Background

Da Nhim - Ham Thuan - Da Mi Hydro Power Joint Stock Co planned to develop 47.5 MW Da Mi Floating Solar Power Project, in Binh Thuan, Vietnam. POWERCHINA Huadong Engineering Corp Ltd was the EPC contractor. AF Poyry AB was the construction contractor. Power Project Management Board No.1 was the consultant of the project. The project was the largest floating PV project on construction in Southeast Asia, located in the Tanh Linh and Ham Thuan Bac districts, approximately 220 km north-east of Ho Chi Minh City at DAMI water reservoir with water depth of 30 m, water level difference at 4.4 m and wave height at 0.5 m. The project had a total installed capacity of 47.5 MW. The floating solar park would cover 57 hectares and produce 69 million kWh in its first year of operation. The Environmental Impact Assessment (or EIA) was approved on 15 Sep 2017. The project responded to the Belt and Road Initiative and would actively foster the economic and social development in the locality and create new jobs.
