Background

Cambodian Government and Powerchina International Group Ltd planned to develop Sen Monorom Commune Airport Project, in Sen Monorom Commune, Sen Monorom, Mondol Kiri, Cambodia. On December 31, The government approved to develop the project with Powerchina International Group Ltd. The Council of Ministers said that Powerchina International Group Ltd would have to cover the cost of the project’s feasibility study which is to be conducted by the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA). The project covered the construction of a 600 hectare airport, 60 metres wide with two lanes and 3.6 km long entrance road to the new airport. The project was to boost tourism development, agro-tourism and agro-industry. The project aimed to provide air links between the north-eastern region of the country and other provinces.
