230kV San Jose-Quezon Transmission Line & Substations Upgrade Project

Also known as: 230kV San Jose-Quezon Transmission Line 3 & Substations Upgrade Project
Completed

Background

National Grid Corp of the Philippines planned to develop 230kV San Jose-Quezon Transmission Line & Substations Upgrade Project in San Jose and Quezon City, Philippines. Powerchina Fujian Engineering Co Ltd was the construction contractor of the project. The project covered the construction and upgrade of a 19 km, 230kV transmission line, as well as the San Jose and Quezon 230kV substations. The transmission line traversed the cities of Quezon, Caloocan, Valenzuela, and San Jose del Monte (Bulacan). The project would relieve and prevent the overloading of transmission lines currently serving Metro Manila, as well as provide N-1 contingency for the line (N-1 referred to the ability of the transmission grid to withstand a major power disturbance through redundancies in the grid system). It would also widen the power corridor into Metro Manila, and allow supply from power plants to feed the Luzon load center.
