Background

Dtek planned to develop 246 MW Nikopol Solar Power Plant Project, in Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine. CMEC was the EPC construction contractor of the project. SEPCO Electric Power Construction Corp and Trina Solar were the contractors of the project. The project covered the construction of 200 MW power plant, 150 KV substations and 150 KV double circuit transmission and transformation lines. The capacity of the plant was 200 MW and it was expected to generate over 280,000,000 KW/h annually. The project responded to Belt and Road Initiative. The new solar power plant was meant to become Ukraine's largest and the third largest in Europe once it was operational. The project also included the following specifications: -The new power plant would be located on around 400 hectares of land. -The energy provided by the power plant would be sufficient to provide electricity to more than 100,000 people. -The project was expected to contribute to Ukraine's economic prosperity and green development as it was expected to reduce the Co2 emissions by more than 300,000 tons of Co2 annually.
