Kuwait :

Zain, the leading digital service provider in Kuwait, announced its Main Partnership with the Spain-based Rafa Nadal Academy at Sheikh Jaber Al Abdullah Al Jaber International Tennis Complex in collaboration with Tamdeen Sports, a subsidiary of Tamdeen Group. The academy is considered the first of its kind in the Middle East, and only the second branch of the most famous tennis center in the world; Rafa Nadal Academy – Majorca, Spain.

The partnership was officially announced during the signing ceremony held at Sheikh Jaber Al Abdullah Al Jaber International Tennis Complex, which witnessed the presence of Zain Kuwait CEO Eaman Al Roudhan, Tamdeen Sports CEO Mohammed Mustafa Al Marzouq, and officials from both partners.

During the signing ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of Zain Kuwait Eaman Al Roudhan commented: “We are pleased today to officially announce this new partnership that will certainly contribute to elevating tennis in Kuwait and taking it to new levels. We are keen on being a part of empowering the next generation of professional Kuwaiti athletes who can compete at top international arenas, and we hope that Zain’s support reflects our eagerness in contributing to sports and youth sustainability projects”.

Al Roudhan further added: “our support to this world-class academy as a Main Partner comes under the umbrella of our comprehensive corporate sustainability and social responsibility strategy. Through this strategy, we showcase our utmost commitment in supporting and progressing Kuwait’s youth and sports sectors as per the highest international standards. We are keen on supporting various competitive sports, especially those that Kuwaiti youth has tremendous passion for like tennis”.

Al Roudhan continued: “private sector companies have a pivotal and essential role in supporting and encouraging the various sports projects in the nation, which will ultimately contribute to developing the skills and talents of youth and creating a new generation of professional athletes that will raise the Kuwaiti flag high at regional and international arenas. This is the main goal of the Rafa Nadal Academy in Kuwait, which we were keen on being among the first to support”.

Al Roudhan concluded: “we strongly believe in the crucial role played by private sector organizations in achieving social development, and we aspire to make this belief a reality by supporting major sports projects in the nation, as well as sponsoring many individual Kuwaiti athletes who represent Kuwait around the world and whom we’re very proud of”.

During the ceremony, CEO of Tamdeen Sports Mohammed Mustafa Al Marzouq said: “We are delighted and proud to be premium partners with Zain, and to be sharing this journey together in creating an impact for the future generation in Kuwait”.

Al Marzouq further explained: “the Academy’s vision is to lead the way for tennis in the Middle East, and develop a unique, high-end sports facility with the highest level of service and care. Our greatest asset in achieving this is our partners, and we are thrilled that Zain’s leadership is playing an important role in helping us become the leading tennis Academy in the Middle East and redefine sport, fitness, health, and leisure across the region”.

The Rafa Nadal Academy at Sheikh Jaber Al Abdullah Al Jaber International Tennis Complex is the first of its kind in the Middle East. The academy is also the first branch of Rafael Nadal’s most famous tennis center in the world outside of his hometown of Majorca, Spain. The academy adopts the 20-Grand Slams winner’s training philosophy, the same one adopted in Spain, which centers around five main pillars: tennis training, physical training, mental training, nutrition, and competitiveness.

The academy features 8 indoor courts and 8 outdoor courts. The main, multi-purpose indoor court features over 5000 seats, while the secondary outdoor court features 1500 seats. All courts are equipped with the latest world-class tools, and the facility also features a members hall that offers nutrition programs, sports shops, and more. The hall is connected to many other facilities, such as a 5-star hotel, 360 Mall, a multi-story parking building, and more.

During early 2020, a huge opening ceremony commemorated the launch of the Rafa Nadal Academy at Sheikh Jaber Al Abdullah Al Jaber International Tennis Complex. The event was attended by many prominent figures from Kuwait’s business and sports scenes, and witnessed  a ‘Champions Challenge’ match between world tennis champions Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer, which was also the very first match to be held at the academy’s courts.

Zain strongly believes in the crucial role played by private sector organizations in supporting social and economic sustainability projects, as well as further pushing the sports community’s growth in the country. Springing from its growing commitment towards practicing its social responsibility, the company is committed to printing a positive print through all its activities. This has led Zain to embrace the most influential projects in the community, including the support of this world-class academy.
