TIP Summit has drawn the participation of government officials, inventors, entrepreneurs, investors, industry experts, universities, professionals and Start-ups who all share the deep belief that we are at a crossroad in the country’s history—where societal and habitual change has to come before it’s too late.

In his inaugural speech, H.E. Eng. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori said: “There is no doubt that breakthrough technological transformations of the industrial and economic structure are very much the need of the hour, and we are confident that the developments in the areas of innovation and technology can change the nature of our future profession, industry, cities and the way humans live. This is what makes platforms such as the TIP Summit highly relevant as they help foster a productive dialogue between leaders as well as internal and external stakeholders, who could offer inspiring and multidisciplinary perspectives.”

Al Mansoori pointed out that the UAE Government believes in the potential of promoting an environment of innovation, technology, scientific research and intellectual property, as they serve as the engines of development and transformation towards a globally competitive digital economy.

H.E. added: “We believe that the UAE is making great strides in establishing innovation, science and technology as the main drivers of its industrial and economic transformation, with a strong focus on building capacity and capabilities in new sectors such as: Biotechnology and precision medicine; Food Technology Systems; Material Science, especially petrochemicals; Aerospace; Health and prevention of non-communicable diseases and Water solutions technologies.”

The Minister of Economy concluded: “It is with great enthusiasm and optimism that we look forward to the outcomes of the second TIP Summit and their applications in contributing to defining the future of humanity, as it is another major milestone among the national initiatives and programs to foster the country’s innovation ecosystem.”

H.E. Mohamad Al Shorafa, Chairman of ADDED commented on the summit saying: “what truly matters about TIP — the reason why we come together for this summit every year — is to foster the kind of collaboration that is required to make transformative innovations possible.”

He continued: “Indeed, time and time again, all over the world, we’ve seen how great ideas can only become game-changing innovations through collaboration. True progress is only possible when communities, academic institutions, industry leaders, and governments work together. TIP has been designed — from the prizes we award our inventors, to the topics and speakers in our summits — to foster the kind of boundary-crossing collaboration that it takes to change the world.

We value the power of collaboration in the UAE in part because the UAE was made possible through collaboration. The UAE was founded because leaders from across the Emirates worked together to imagine a new future for their people. And, whether it was city planning, education, healthcare, or infrastructure, the progress of our first fifty years depended on collaboration, too, as we worked with experts from around the world to find sustainable solutions to our local challenges. I have no doubt that the UAE’s next fifty years will be also be fueled by our ability to continue collaborating with even more diverse experts on topics of even bigger significance. “

H.E Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, Managing Director of the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) and Managing Director of the Mohamed Bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund said: “The opening of the inaugural TIP Summit 2020 is an exciting moment, as we stand on the cusp of learning which innovative solutions to environmental challenges have won the EnviroTech award. Today is a culmination of our efforts, in partnership with TIP, to promote innovation and investment in the transition to a green economy, both in Abu Dhabi and around the world.”

“As environmental challenges become increasingly prominent, we look to the inventors to help us find the solutions. We know that technological innovation has an important role to play in efforts to protect the environment and the aim of the EnviroTech Award is to put in place the support from the whole innovation ecosystem not only of government to build and scale these ideas. With more than 250 applications received in the fields of clean energy, ocean conservation and single-use plastic, we know that entrepreneurs have a lot to offer the global drive to tackle environmental challenges. Abu Dhabi is proud to provide a model for the transition to a green economy and I wish all the winners of this year’s TIP initiative every success for the future.”

MoE, ADDED and TIP are expected to collaborate for this  world-class event, reflecting the key effort aimed at bringing together bright minds and enablers in a creative dialogue for the future global innovation ecosystem in partnership with HSBC, Tamkeen, AD Ports, Tawazun,  AD Convention Bureau, ADGM, Industrial Development Bureau, AD Investment Office, Start AD and Emirates Development Bank.

TIP Summit 2020 agenda is focused on innovations topics, technology, while highlighting success stories presented by local & international industry experts and high-profile speakers. The event hosts more than 100 speakers and experts from different industries and will hold more than 20 workshops and conferences, and network with over 100 investors from all over the world.

TIP symbolizes the value that Abu Dhabi places on innovation and our commitment to creating an environment where the world’s most innovative companies can

thrive. The event is an opportunity to discover how Abu Dhabi’s innovation ecosystem can empower more companies to create and commercialize world-class ideas right here in the emirate.”

Our path forward will be defined by the cognitive, functional, and passionate engagement we experience at The TIP Summit 2020. From the game-change emergence of iPhone in 2007 to the current innovations on artificial intelligence and nanotechnology, our century is now taking shape and direction. It begins today--it begins here in Abu Dhabi."
