Doha, Qatar: - In line with providing technologies, services and facilities which is forecasted to play a key role in driving Morocco’s economic infrastructure and business opportunities and to promote Qatari products across local, regional and global markets, Qatar Development Bank (QDB), participated along with 28 leading Qatari companies at second edition of Big 5 Construct North Africa, an exhibition for operators in the construction industry.

The expo was held at the Parc Des Expositions De L'Office Des Changes in Casablanca, Morocco from 10 - 12 April 2018 with participation of over 190 construction industry giants from 29 countries and attraction of thousands of visitors from all over the world.

The three-day event was a unique opportunity for participating delegates and leaders of building and construction industry and traders to meet and exchange viewpoints, ideas, expertise and experiences in various fields of project management and sustainability, and to get abreast with the most recent technologies and innovations in the building and constructions sector flourishing in the region.

The latest participation of QDB comes against the backdrop of a series of initiatives the bank has undertaken to support the entry of Qatari small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across regional and global markets.

Through its involvement in Big 5 Construct North Africa, QDB aimed to facilitate the entry of local companies specializing in the construction industry–including manufacturers of construction equipment, technology, machinery, materials as well as product suppliers in Morocco- a nation known for its leading rank as Africa’s construction and manufacturing capital.

QDB’s pavilion in Big 5 included the following shortlisted 28 Qatari companies: Al Sada Factory for Plastic Pipes, Al Sada Plastic Profiles, Future Pipe Industries (FPI), Albayan for Electronics and LED Technologies, Doha Plastic, Qatar German Pipes Company, Qatari Canadian for Energy and Electrical Industries; Sarplast Qatar, Al Muftah Fiberglass Products, Qatar Integrated Plastic Bags Factory (QIPBF);  Bin Aman Plastic Industries factory; Al Hodaifi Cable Compounding Co.;  Doha Cables;  National Paints;  International Welding Rods Factory; Qatar Steel Industries Factory; Artisan Carpentry; Perfection Manufacturing; Abdulnoor Aluminium Extrusion Factory; Qatar Aluminium Extrusion Company; Al Hababi Wooden Furniture & Aluminium Factory;  International Stainless Steel company; Al Jaber Steel Company; Sigma Metal Works; ASTAD and   Salama Road Market Factory; Arabian Specialised Materials Company (ASMA); and Qatar Insulation Factory (QIF).

Commenting on the latest exhibition, Mr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Development Bank, said:

The Big 5 exhibition held in Morocco this year, was amongst the most important events in the construction and building materials sector in North Africa. It brought together product-focused events under one roof, and included thousands of suppliers and buyers from many countries around the world. The expo hosted national pavilions representing all major exporting countries of the world, and drew the attention of major developers, contractors, suppliers and distributors from both the eastern and western hemispheres of the globe.

The Big 5 is the largest, most influential and renowned portfolio of construction industry events spanning the Middle East, India, South East Asia and Africa. In 2016, it connected over 35,600 exhibitors, 195,500 visitors, 1000 speakers and 20,000 conference and summit attendees.

QDB’s participation in Big 5 Construct North Africa comes as the latest in a series of activities undertaken to consolidate Qatar-North Africa economic partnership.

Recently Qatar Development Bank participated in the ‘Plast Alger Exhibition’, the 5thInternational Plastics and Composites Trade Exhibition for Algeria and the Maghreb, organized by fair trade and Messe Düsseldorf, which took place from 11 to13 of March, 2018 at the state-of-the-art Centre International de Conférences Abdelatif Rahal CIC in Algiers

Furthermore, Qatar Development Bank participated in the Interior Design Furnishing Expo which was held in Muscat, Oman from February 6 to 8, 2018. The expo, known for its high quality and product display diversification and it attracted a huge number of leading companies in the interior design, décor and furniture industry under one roof as well as share and learn about other countries’ experiences in this field.
