The process of picking up winners for the prestigious Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA) has entered the final stage, as Edbiz Consulting, the Awards Administrator, has started informing the short-listed nominees. "We are absolutely delighted to be advised that we are shortlisted for two very prestigious Awards," said Stella Cox, Managing Director, DDCAP Limited.
GIFA celebrates the achievements of individuals, institutions and governments in promoting and advocating Islamic banking and finance, and ensuring that it remains committed to social responsibility. The awards like Islamic Social Responsibility Award ensure that corporate social responsibility remains a major theme in Islamic banking and finance. The previous winners in this category include Islamic Relief Worldwide (2012) and Sedco Capotal (2013).
"As the most prestigious awards in Islamic finance, GIFA promotes social responsibility, Shari'a authenticity and commitment to Islamic banking and finance," stated Professor Humayon Dar, Founding Chairman of GIFA. The previous GIFA Laureates were honoured for their advocacy role and for playing instrumental roles in promotion of Islamic banking and finance. Tun Abdullah Badawi, a Former Prime Minister of Malaysia and the first GIFA Laureate, for helping to develop enabling infrastructure for Islamic banking and finance in Malaysia. The last year GIFA Laureate, Mr Shaukat Aziz, a Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, was honoured for his services to promotion of Islamic banking and finance in Pakistan. This year, another head of state/government is expected to receive the Global Leadership in Islamic Finance Award at a colourful ceremony to be held at H-Hotel, Dubai on 27th October, 2014. "H-Hotel is very pleased to host Edbiz Consulting in organising the prestigious Global Islamic Finance Awards 2014. We are very excited and working hard to make it the evening to remember for everyone," said Priscilla Yanthan, Events Manager at H-Hotel.
In addition to the top award, the Awards Committee has shortlisted nominees in more than thirty categories.
Edbiz Consulting will publish a special GIFA Supplement on the occasion, to be distributed free amongst the participants and through Edbiz's global database. "The winners will be profiled in the GIFA Supplement to promote them as leading players in the Islamic financial services industry," said Rizwan Malik, Head of Business Development at Edbiz Consulting.
