Abu Dhabi: Now residents of Abu Dhabi can shop for the freshest fish and vegetables in the most hygienic and odour free environment. The MARKET was inaugurated by HE Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister for Culture, youth & community development at Mushrif Mall in Abu Dhabi in the presence of Ali Al Mansoori, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Fishermen's Co-operative Society, Yusuff Ali MA, Managing Director of Lulu Group and senior officials of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, Municipality and other government officials. . Billed as the benchmark in food safety and hygiene in the region, The MARKET has 3 separate sections for Seafood, vegetables and meat with more than 200 shops in the ground floor of the popular mall in Abu Dhabi.
The highlight of course is the huge fish market which is being operated by the Abu Dhabi Fishermen Cooperative Society. This fish market has special section to promote local seafood as well as a wide range of international variety. Another highlight would be the LIVE FISH counter, where shoppers can select live fish which will be cleaned and cut according to the requirements. The entire market is not only architecturally beautifull but also technically most advanced with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, which will provide an odour free and eco-friendly experience to the shoppers.
THE Market is simply the biggest and most technologically advanced fresh food market not only in Abu Dhabi but also in the entire Gulf region. The facilities span over 200,000 square feet and will daily market over 150,000 kilograms of fresh produce. Divided into 3 distinct fresh food offers, i.e., Farmers' fresh Produce (fruit & vegetables), Meat & Poultry and Seafood, the Market will have more than 200 shops selling freshest high quality products with the widest choice for the residents of Abu Dhabi.
THE Market's Farmers' Produce Hall will sell local vegetables, herbs, dates & seasonal fruits including organics. There will also be an abundant fresh supply of international fruits & vegetables such as Philippine bananas & pineapples, Thailand's tropical fruits, Yemen honey, African vegetables, Chinese garlic, Indian mangoes, US citrus, Australia carrots, New Zealand apples and, more. The Meat Produce Hall will sell local meat from beef, lamb, chicken, rabbit & camel including organics. There in addition will be a vast array of fresh international meats from New Zealand venison, Australian lamb, Pakistan beef, Indian lamb, and, more. The Fish Hall will showcase the best of local fresh UAE fish from Hamour, Sheri & King Fish plus more apart from locally grown Caspian caviar on offer that is a first for the region. Complementing the local catch is a feast of international seafood from Omani prawns & lobster, Pacific tuna, Australian barramundi, Mediterranean fish species and a dedicated live seafood section that will sell, live local fish, organic fish, international fish as well as scallops, oysters, prawns, lobsters, crabs, mussels, clams and, more.
With special emphasis on local and organic produce the vegetable section of the MARKET will be offering a wide range of fruit and vegetables from around the world in a souq like ambiance while the meat section will sell everything from local meat to imported meats and meat products as well as marinated, ready-to-cook products. As per the industry sources this project is going to be a trendsetter and many similar initiative will be launched soon in other parts of UAE and gulf region.
