Sharjah – The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs (MFNCA) has organised its first-ever lecture to promote political participation in the Emirate of Sharjah in collaboration with the Government of Sharjah’s Districts and Villages Affairs Department.

Hosted by Majlis Dahiyat Al Rahmaniyah, the lecture forms part of the MFNCA’s efforts to promote political participation among all segments of the community. It featured His Excellency Dr Saeed Mohammed Al Ghafli, the Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for FNC Affairs, who shed light on the nature of parliamentary life in the UAE and the importance of the Federal National Council’s role in achieving the country’s ambitions and meeting the needs of its people. Furthermore, H.E. underlined the importance of promoting political participation among all segments of the community to engage them in the upcoming FNC elections.

“The Political Empowerment Programme, launched by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, constitutes a national plan of action to establish a pioneering and innovative parliamentary experience, tailored to the specificities of UAE society, and to realise Emiratis’ ambitions to play a significant role in the decision making and sustainable development of the UAE,” H.E. Al Ghafli said, asserting that the Federal National Council has come to embody the values of ‘Shura’ and community engagement in building the UAE’s future.

“The culture of political participation among the community is a foundational pillar in all comprehensive and sustainable development plans. It not only reflects patriotism and loyalty, but also underscores all efforts to protect our national accomplishments and implement the vision of our wise leadership for a bright future for the UAE across all sectors,” H.E. added, noting that the UAE has set an example to be emulated in fostering collaboration between the legislative and executive authorities, and reiterating the MFNCA’s commitment to maintaining direct communication with all segments of the community to promote political participation and raise political awareness.

For his part, Khamis bin Salem Al Suwaidi, Member of Sharjah’s Executive Council and Chairman of the Government of Sharjah’s Districts and Villages Affairs Department, underlined the importance of the lecture and the role that his Department plays, through the Majalis at the various suburbs, in raising awareness about the FNC elections; introducing the community to the Political Empowerment Programme, launched by UAE President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and educating them about the Council’s responsibilities and role in serving the country and its citizens.

The lecture was attended by high-profile professionals and experts, as well as members of all segments of the UAE community. The participants pointed to the importance of the initiative in establishing direct communication with the community, raising political awareness, and catalysing their participation in the upcoming FNC elections. This lecture is part of a series of activities organised by the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs to promote political awareness and enhance communication with all segments of society. It also serves to achieve the Ministry’s vision and strategic objectives to build long-term national partnerships.
