Making banking even more accessible NBO's new service offers App in eight languages

Muscat – Helping to promote financial inclusion among all sectors, National Bank of Oman (NBO) has launched its new multi-lingual mobile banking service. The service, which is part of the bank’s award-winning Mobile App, was unveiled at the bank’s headquarters in Athaiba, in attendance of guest of honour, H.E. Munu Mahawar, Indian Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman. During the event the bank provided a live demonstration of the service, which is a market first and allows customers to make remittances in eight languages, including six regional Indian languages, as well as Arabic and English.

John Chang, General Manager and Chief Retail Banking Officer at NBO, said, “The main idea behind developing this added service was to reach out to previously unbanked segments. With a wide range of languages and a simpler and user-friendly interface, we are able to help people manage their finances and enjoy a more rewarding banking experience. Easy to register and operate, customers can make remittances in just three clicks and funds be credited to beneficiary accounts in less than 60 seconds. It’s part of our effort to make our customers’ lives better and more convenient. Our aim is to make it simpler and easier for them to access banking products and services and increase their awareness and understanding of the benefits of banking”.

The bank works closely with partners such as Oman Banking Association and several government entities to help spread a culture of saving, produce a range of material and initiatives to promote financial inclusion, reach out to previously unbanked sections of the society, create awareness and share knowledge of the benefits of banking relationships and educate them as to how better they can assess and plan for their financial needs.

The bank has worked on creating a more user friendly and a simpler journey to accommodate customers in various levels of literacy and help them in banking and financial planning. Customers can access the new service through NBO’s Mobile App, which is available on Google Play and the Apple Store.
