Abu Dhabi, UAE – Knowledge Group (KG), a trusted human capital development solutions provider in the MENA region, is collaborating with Taweelah Asia Power Company (TAPCO), the owner of the largest independent water and power plant (IWPP) in the UAE, on the Taweelah B Leadership Development Program.

Aimed at developing the leadership competencies of TAPCO supervisors, the industry-leading training initiative supports the company’s mission to achieve sustainable growth and enhance its service offering to the residents of Abu Dhabi.

The new program will provide high-level training to 10 TAPCO supervisors who already possess strong technical competencies. Expert trainers from Knowledge Group will familiarize the participants with the latest global standards of organizational leadership with an emphasis on strategic thinking and preparing each professional to take up future leadership positions within TAPCO. Graduates of the program will receive a Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership from the globally recognized Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

Knowledge Group has designed the curriculum in close collaboration with TAPCO to meet the unique training and development needs of the organization. Onboarding will involve psychometric assessments and feedback sessions. The results of these assessments, translated into individual development plans, will determine the content and direction of the rest of the program.

From June to October 2018, the program will deliver six training modules, each consisting of a two-day workshop. The modules will include an introduction to TAPCO, aimed at exploring the company’s mission, vision and strategy in-depth, as well as leadership, project finance, and other key topics. Coaching sessions linked to the development plans will complement the learning experience.

Dr Ahmad Badr, Chief Executive Officer of Knowledge Group, said: “This is a very important new program for Knowledge Group. TAPCO’s unwavering focus to best-in-class quality standards in all its endeavors to achieve the critical priority of supplying power and water to the people of Abu Dhabi is well known. We are proud to assist the company in directing this focus on quality to its most important resource of all – future leadership talent.”

For his part, John Burnett, Managing Director of Asia Gulf Power Service Company (AGPS), TAPCO’s operations and maintenance (O&M) contractor, said: “We are proud to partner with Knowledge Group to offer this upskilling opportunity to our outstanding employees. As most participants of the program are UAE nationals, the initiative also helps drive Emiratization in the power and water sector in Abu Dhabi.”

The Taweelah B Independent Water and Power Project is the largest IWPP in the UAE, developed under the highly successful power and water sector privatization program of the Government of Abu Dhabi. TAPCO’s vision is to maximize shareholder returns, set the local and even regional benchmarks for power and water production, safety and environmental excellence, and facility management, while also spearheading Emiratization efforts.
