Dubai, UAE: With 2,900 startups and track-record of over US$300 million in funding, Kerala's vibrant tech start-up ecosystem has gained further fillip through four strategic memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed by Kerala Startup Mission on the sidelines of GITEX Global 2021 in Dubai.

At a special B2B conference facilitated by Kerala Startup Mission & Kerala IT Parks, four strategic MoUs were signed with global entities such as Fincasa Ventures, Secpho, Startup Scale 360 and Ztartup that will secure significant business, operational and investment opportunities for tech startups in Kerala.

Addressing the B2B conference, Kerala IT Parks CEO John M. Thomas said: “The strategic MoUs that were signed will be another excellent opportunity for startups from Kerala to strengthen their presence in the MENA region. These agreements will enable them to grow their business to new markets as well as achieve higher levels of operational efficiency and financial lever, which are critical to scaling their business.

“Kerala’s startup environment is second to none and led by the strategic priority of the government, we are boosting opportunities for innovative players to establish their business and grow their enterprises. Typically, startups find it difficult to get funding, and through our showcase of 20 startups at GITEX Global 2021, we have facilitated their engagement with a global audience of investors and businesses.”

The MoU with Fincasa Ventures will drive business and investment opportunity for Kerala’s tech startups while SECPHO will drive mutual startup access, collaboration and scouting among Kerala’s tech enterprises for opportunities in Spain. The agreement with Startup Scale 360 is to facilitate funding, mentoring, market access, scaling and tech support while the MoU with Ztartup will enable infrastructure support for those who are nominated by KSUM for free.

Kerala IT Parks, which promotes information technology, successfully completed its participation in GITEX Global 2021, with a delegation of 50-members, including 20 start-ups and 30 IT companies.

The IT ecosystem of Kerala IT Parks includes IT built up space/land parcels in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and in Domestic Tariff Areas (DTA) within its campuses. The government has announced a new Kerala IT Policy, which invites private IT co-developers/IT companies to invest in IT infrastructure within Kerala IT Parks, and support the growing demand of Kerala IT ecosystem. The B2B conference, an invite-only event, organised in Dubai was attended by several high-ranking UAE government officials, high-net worth individuals, investors and financial entities, who had the opportunity to interact with the 20 startups from Kerala.
