• Aster DM Healthcare announced fulfillment of commitment to employ 100 people of determination announced in 2017- Year of Giving. Within 2018- Year of Zayed, 71 people of determination were recruited across the Company’s operations in 9 countries.
  • Currently, 22 people of determination are employed in the UAE and additional 23 are working across Aster’s units in the GCC
  • Initiated as a key pillar under the Aster Volunteers Global Programme, the initiative will continue to focus on their training, addressing health and wellness needs

The United Arab Emirates: To commemorate International day of Persons with Disabilities, Aster DM Healthcare organized an event called “Common Ground” for people of determination employed with the Company across the United Arab Emirates, GCC and India. The event was held to recognize the efforts of these individuals and highlight their contributions across the company. Broadcasted live across all Aster units globally, the event brought together the Company’s 17,700 employees on one platform to celebrate an inclusive culture.  

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman and Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare said, “I believe that every individual who has the passion to achieve their dreams and motivated to work-hard should be given an opportunity, without discrimination. Inclusion and diversity are a part of our ethos at Aster DM Healthcare and forms the basis of our strength as an organisation. We have seen individuals challenged with a disability, driven by sheer determination and hard-work excelling at their jobs. As such, we are further committing to include people of determination as 1% of our total employee base across 9 countries. Let us encourage people of determination to become active participants in the society.”

The initiative reflects Aster DM Healthcare’s objectives of aligning its activities with that of the UAE’s Year of Zayed, and the embodiment of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s values which include wisdom, respect, sustainability and human development.

Rana Fanek, Call Center Associate at Aster Pharmacy in UAE, and a lady of determination, who has proven that with hard work and commitment, people of determination are viable members of the workforce also noted, “Being differently abled should not be a hindrance in the path of your success. Inclusion is a key component to the success of corporates and the society. It further empowers us to become self-dependent.
