Dubai, United Arab Emirates - After the moderate recovery in the global oil and gas drilling sector last year, this year will see further growth with offshore drilling to outpace the overall global drilling market. While total global drilling activity—excluding the U.S.—is set to rise by 2.5 percent this year, offshore drilling is forecasted to grow by over 6 percent to 2,204 wells.

Global drilling activity, excluding the US, will see 46,209 wells drilled in 2019. According to analysts at World Oil Forecast, the most active offshore drilling areas will include East Canada, Brazil, Norway, Angola, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, China, and India.

The first International Offshore Development Congress (IODC 2019) to be held in Abu Dhabi on 28-29 April 2019 will discuss various topics including future of offshore oil and gas in light of the current economic situation, supply and demand fluctuation, oil price volatility, operational pressures, investment challenges, environmental stewardship, and the role of renewables in the energy mix.

The Congress will bring together key industry stakeholders including NOC’s, IOC’s as well as all other stakeholders relevant to the Oil and Gas offshore development. H.E. Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Arab Association of Petroleum professionals (AAPP) and the DCMMI Emirates will open IODC 2019. He will also chair the Congress.
