- Al-Mashaan: "Our objective as an organization goes beyond operational performance, as we measure our success by our efforts to make a positive impact around us."

Kuwait - As part of its participation in “Kuwait Partnerships for Sustainable Development”, held on the occasion of the United Nations (UN) Day in the State of Kuwait, ALARGAN International Real Estate Company reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and to creating sustainable development in the real estate sector in Kuwait and every country where it operates, in line with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that would transform the world.

Over the past decade, the Company’s investments in sustainability have translated into a strategy that aims not only to develop sustainable buildings to improve and support an economically and socially viable urban environment, but also shares expertise with institutions which can also support that Company’s endeavors towards sustainability, and engages younger generations to whom the torch will be passed to build and maintain development.

ALARGAN International Real Estate Company CEO and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Khaled Al-Mashaan, said: “We believe in our responsibility towards creating a sustainable future and our objective as an organization goes beyond operational performance, as we measure our success by our efforts to make a positive impact around us. We’ve successfully integrated the notion of sustainability within our organization, delivering responsible products and services that benefit everyone in our community.

“Today, we are proud to say that sustainability is deeply rooted within ALARGAN’s Strategy 2020 and is the driving force to our motto “Life... As You Love It”, through which we develop sustainable buildings, and create communities where tenants love to work, live and socialize.”

ALARGAN’s sustainability programs support the UN’s SGD Number 11, which focuses on developing sustainable cities and communities, as well as SDG Number 9 for industry innovation and infrastructure in which the Company invests in new solutions and standards to improve the industry’s framework, SGD Number 15 for life on land by supporting the development of green buildings and landscapes, and SGD Number 4 for quality education through the investment in training programs targeting school and university students.

As part of the United Nations Day, ALARGAN launched a photography competition among universities in Kuwait, inviting them to share their vision of the future of Kuwait. The competition, held in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Kuwait’s Supreme Council for Planning and Development (GSSCDP), aims to familiarize students with the Sustainable Development Goals identified by the UN as well as the development goals identified in the Kuwait Vision 2035, enabling students to provide their aspirations for the future.

ALARGAN’s commitment to delivering sustainability has earned it the only Platinum ranking for the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) program in Kuwait, which is awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), for its development of its green compliant headquarters within the ARGAN Business Park. ALARGAN focuses on the development of affordable and middle-income housing in the GCC to serve the growing population and changing income scales.

In addition to its future-looking strategy, ALARGAN invests in talent by providing them with learning opportunities and growth benefits, a collaborative work environment, and a sense of belonging. This goes hand-in-hand with the company’s heavy investment in corporate social responsibility, a key investment that it recognizes as a pillar to long-term sustainability.
