AAAASF strengthens its clinical team with a series of new appointments

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF), one of the largest not-for-profit outpatient accrediting organizations, recently announced several appointments to enhance its clinical team as part of its growth and expansion strategy.

The new appointments announced by AAAASF are Monda Shaver, RN, BSN, MSHM, as the organization’s Chief Regulatory Affairs Officer, Michon Mayfield, MHA, as the Director of Accreditation, Lisa Molidor, RN, WCC, as the Clinical Education Manager, and Donna Tiberi, RN, MS, as the Compliance Coordinator. They will be joining Ilana Wolff, RN, BSN, the Director of Clinical Compliance to complete the clinical team.

This series of new appointments come as part of AAAASF's growth and expansion strategy to enhance the in-house knowledge and expertise of the clinical team so the organization can address concerns and queries about accreditation based on the operations and specialties of the facilities.

Commenting on the new appointments, Thomas S. Terranova, JD MA MBA, Executive Director of AAAASF said: “We are excited about the new appointments as each one of them, with their individual base of knowledge, expertise and experience, will  add tremendous value and strength to the clinical team and organization on the whole.” He further added: “What’s great is that our clinical team is more capable than ever of conducting research, crafting responses, and analyzing findings in a clinically relevant and efficient way."

The enhanced clinical team, with decades of combined regulatory, compliance, and accreditation expertise, will be expected to strengthen further AAAASF’s ability to refine and administer programs that promote the safest possible care while streamlining requirements that are manageable for facilities.

AAAASF accredits thousands of facilities worldwide. The organization is acknowledged and recognized within the healthcare industry for setting the Gold standard in accreditation.

AAAASF strives for the highest standards of excellence for its facilities by regularly updating its requirements for patient safety and quality of care, while requiring facilities to continually self-assess and evolve. Facility quality improvement plans must include identifying and correcting deficiencies cited during the facility’s annual inspection. This shows that the facility is taking their feedback into account.

AAAASF also requires facilities to collect and report on patient safety data from a number of cases each quarter, and mandates facility meetings to peer review cases throughout the year.

Through these measures, AAAASF aims to improve the performance and quality of the facilities it accredits, while also ensuring the standards are maintained.

AAAASF was established in 1980 to standardize and improve the quality of health care in outpatient facilities. AAAASF accredits thousands of facilities world-wide, making it one of the largest, not-for-profit, out-patient accrediting organizations. Physicians, clinicians, legislators, state/federal health agencies, and patients acknowledge that AAAASF sets the ‘Gold Standard in Accreditation’.
