A new batch of Bahraini staff recently obtained professional certifications in audit and accounting, with support from KPMG in Bahrain’s Jassim Fakhro Fund. This milestone highlights the progress of the firm’s flagship personal development initiative, designed to support the professional growth of young Bahraini talent.

The Jassim Fakhro Fund was established in 2001 to honor Jassim Fakhro, co-founder of KPMG in Bahrain and to support the professional development of talented young Bahrainis. It provides local staff with access to financial support, along with time and mentoring from more experienced colleagues to help them pursue and complete any professional qualification of their choice.

To date, 160 Bahraini employees have benefited from the fund program, including financial and mentoring support at a total cost of USD 1,680,000 (BD 634,000) covered entirely by KPMG in Bahrain.

Sayed Ali Hashem, Audit Associate and Jassim Fakhro Fund beneficiary, stated about his experience and said “The program enabled me to accomplish my ACCA qualification, a global professional accounting body. It was difficult to balance studying and working, but I have received great support from employees and managers alike. In addition to financial support, the study leaves offered within the program enabled me to focus on studying in the week leading up to the exam.”

Ehsan Sharaf, Audit Associate, also completed his ACCA qualification with support from the firm. “Being a qualified chartered accountant means I am part of a global network of accountancy professionals, applying the highest international standards to help our clients maintain their business growth. I am thankful to KPMG in Bahrain for providing this opportunity through the Jassim Fakhro Fund program” he added.

Jamal Fakhro, Managing Partner of KPMG in Bahrain, commented on this milestone “Our ongoing support to our people comes from our belief in their capabilities and their valuable contribution to the local business community during their career with KPMG and beyond. I am pleased with the progress we have made so far within Jassim Fakhro Fund program. I am looking forward to see these numbers grow further as we support the development of more Bahraini staff.”
