Love that linen shirt you saw on Instagram? Now you can buy it there, too.
The photo-sharing app on tuesday launched a new checkout feature that allows users to shop for apparel and other fashion items without leaving the app…. making instagram the latest platform to try to compete with Amazon and other e-tailers.
Here's how it works: jJust tap on a photo, and a price pops up. Another click brings up an order form. Users then pay for items with a credit card or via PayPal.
The checkout feature is part of a drive by parent company Facebook to monetize its high growth businesses - Instagram being primary among them.
Instagram has partnered with more than 20 brands ranging from H&M to Uniqlo. It did not disclose details of financial arrangements.
