KYIV- Ukraine's grain exports have fallen to 13.84 million tonnes so far in the July 2020 to June 2021 season from 16.43 million tonnes in the same period last year because of much lower corn volumes, the economy ministry said on Monday.

Traders had sold 1.09 million tonnes of corn as of October 19 compared to 2.94 million tonnes exported by the same date last year.

Wheat exports have declined to 9.59 million tonnes from 10.20 million tonnes.

The total export volume also included 3.11 million tonnes of barley.

Ukraine accounts for about 16% of global grain exports, and sold 56.7 million tonnes of grain to foreign buyers in the 2019/20 season.

The government has said exports could decline to 47.4 million tonnes in 2020/21 due to a weaker harvest.

The economy ministry expects the 2020 grain crop to fall to about 68 million tonnes from 2019's record of 75.1 million tonnes because of adverse weather.
