Oman's share index closes marginally lower

A total number of 401 trades were executed during the day's trading session


The MSM30 index closed at 4,105.66 points, down 0.15 per cent. The Sharia Index closed down 0.35 per cent at 561.28 points. Ahli Bank, 2.86 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman National Engineer, down 7.14 per cent was the top loser. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 401 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.1 million with more than 9.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded stocks, 5 advanced, 14 declined and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, local were net buyers for OMR474,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for RO 466K followed by foreign investors for OMR9,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,504.27 points, up 0.05 per cent. Ahli Bank, Bank Nizwa, Bank Dhofar, Al Omaniya Financial and Bank Muscat were up by 2.86, 1.01 per cent, 0.88 per cent, 0.87 per cent and 0.45 per cent respectively. Gulf Investment, Ominvest, HSBC Oman and Oman Emirates Investment were down by 2.86 per cent, 1.74 per cent, 1.64 per cent and 1.64 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,492.47 points, down 0.53 per cent. No gainers from the Industrial sector. Oman Cement, Voltamp Energy, Gulf International, Al Jazeera Steel and Al Anwar Ceramic were down by 3.26 per cent, 2.68 per cent, 0.94 per cent, 0.79 per cent and 0.60 per cent respectively.

Services index also closed down by 0.54 per cent at 1,947.64 points. No gainers from the service sector. Oman National Engineer and Renaissance Service were down by 7.14 per cent and 4.92 per cent respectively.
