Riyadh –   Assets of Saudi investment funds rose by 15.2%, or SAR 38.28 billion ($10.2 billion), year-on-year in 2018.

The value of assets held by investment funds operating in the kingdom rose to SAR 290.14 billion ($77.37 billion) last year, compared to SAR 251.86 billion ($67.16 billion) in 2017, according to data released by the Capital Market Authority (CMA) on Thursday.

Assets of public investment funds went up 1.5% to SAR 111.86 billion ($29.83 billion) in 2018 from SAR 110.23 billion ($29.4 billion) in the prior year.

Meanwhile, assets held by private investment funds jumped by 25.9% year-on-year to SAR 178.28 billion ($47.54 billion), compared to SAR 141.63 billion ($37.77 billion) in 2017.

The number of subscribers to Saudi investment funds rose by 38.8% to 336,506 in 2018 from 242,492 in the prior year.

In addition, the number of assets registered 542 last year from 543 in 2017.
