Riyadh – Mubasher: United Electronics Company (eXtra) announced the opening of the first virtual reality (VR) gaming centre in Al Khobar city.

XTRA LIFE is considered the biggest of its kind to offer VR gaming services in Saudi Arabia, according to the company’s statement to the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul).

The centre spans across an area of 1,500 square meters (m2), with an investment of around SAR 10 million.

Virtual reality gaming is the latest technology in the gaming world, which has evolved throughout the last decade, said eXtra’s Managing Director and CEO Mohamed Galal.

Saudi Arabia is ranked second in the Middle East and 19th worldwide among gaming markets, with a young population in which about 39% are below 25 years of age, the CEO noted, adding that eXtra's gaming market share has grown significantly over the last three years, reaching 20% by the end of 2019.

United Electronics expects the financial impact of the new centre to reflect on its statements, starting from the first quarter (Q1) of 2020.
