BEIRUT: Solidere International and the government of Ajman launched the opening of Al-Zorah Golf Club, one of the Middle East’s best championship golf courses and the first of its kind in the United Arab Emirates, according to a statement by the company.
The course was inaugurated by Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid al-Nuaimi, ruler of Ajman and Supreme Council member, in the presence of royalty, government officials and some of the region’s top golfers.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid al-Nuaimi, chairman of Al-Zorah Development Company, and Nasser Chammaa, chairman of Solidere International.
The 18-hole course is masterfully landscaped by Nicklaus Design and operated and managed by U.S.-based Troon Golf. It is nestled in over 2 million square meters of natural mangroves, and is expected to be a major attraction for golf lovers.
Chammaa spoke glowingly of Solidere International’s role in the project, saying the company is proud to be spearheading the development.” “I am confident that the course will become a prime destination in the region. At Solidere International, we are known for creating refined ‘places for life.’ We have a reputation for developing unique projects in select markets and Al-Zorah in Ajman is now an addition to our exciting portfolio,” he added.
When complete, Al-Zorah will be a mixed-use residential, commercial and lifestyle development along 12 kilometers of waterfront, and 1.6 kilometers of sandy beaches, in addition to the golf club. The project is strategically located 25 minutes away from Dubai International Airport and 15 minutes away from Sharjah International Airport.
