Riyadh - Science magazine has published the outcomes of a world research concerted work on the genetic mutations causing serious and dangerous symptoms of the Novel Coronavirus, which the Medical City, at King Saud University as well as King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology have taken part.

The research teamed up over 80 states and 50 scientific centers to study the sequential heredity of those gravely and dangerously affected by the pandemic, while the Saudi team, orchestrating the work, with a prominent role through representing the supervisory committee on the international research consortium, was endorsed as the center for studying the hereditary sequencing and conducting immunity experiments, through a collaboration between King Saud University and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology.

As many as 13 different genetic mutations have been detected by the team out of a sample consisting of 23 seriously infected, but the Saudi team, in particular, have detected 7 genetic mutations, through studying about 125 specimen, paving the way for exploring and knowing the immune response of the virus, in a pivotal step conducive to discover medicaments for critical and more complicated relevant cases.

Researchers taking part, in the endeavor, are hopefully aspiring that such a collaborative study would contribute in finding remedies and medications to the pandemic.
