RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health recorded on Friday 1,212 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, registering a marked increase from the Sunday figure of 1,079.

The ministry reported 14 more deaths over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 475,403 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,691.

The ministry also recorded 1,510 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 457,128.

The Makkah region reported the highest number of new cases with 376, followed by the Riyadh region with 233, the Eastern region with 224, and the Asir region with 103 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,584 active cases and 1,489 of them were in critical condition.
