JEDDAH —The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced that it will implement its new policies by June 6 to give better services to travelers, Al-Hayat reported.

GACA Safety and Security Department Customer Protection Directorate said the authority has established a directorate to protect customers’ rights and ensure compensation in instances of flight delays or cancelations.

The directorate also protects the rights of physically challenged travelers and ensures that they are provided with the necessary services when traveling.

The new policies were presented to directors of airports in a workshop in preparation for implementation.

The authority is the first in the Arab world to put in place policies to protect the rights of travelers.

Other Arab countries can now refer to the policies drafted by GACA as a model for their customer protection protocols.

The directorate communicates between travelers and service providers.

The directorate also receives complaints from travelers.
