Nouman Irshad has been appointed as general manager of the Le Méridien Al Aqah Beach Resort, Fujairah.

With over 10 years of demonstrated success within the hospitality industry, Irshad will lead the team at the hotel.

Nouman has previously helmed Sheraton Abuja Hotel in Nigeria as the general manager, since late 2015, following his assignment as deputy general manager at the Sheraton Lagos Hotel. An expert at increasing profitability in highly competitive environments, he has built strong owner relations, improved top-line and profitability at both these hotels in Nigeria.

Irshad, a medical graduate from the Sindh Medical College in Pakistan, started his career in the pharmaceutical industry where he had great success branding and key positioning Oncological products for GlaxoSmithKline and Merck Sharp & Dohme in Pakistan. However, his passion led him to take a giant leap and switch from the field of pharmaceuticals to hospitality. In 2007, he was appointed as director of sales and marketing at the Sheraton Karachi. In just a span of five years, he was promoted to deputy general manager, having catapulted the hotel’s sales and operations to new levels.

He is passionate about developing his team and is a hands-on leader who believes in growing with his team to help them execute and exceed annual revenue goals. Armed with an innate skill of networking and people management, Irshad possesses great leadership skills and is focused on creating an inclusive environment where every member of the hotel team feels motivated and empowered to further hone their skills. A firm believer of giving back to the community, he has spearhead numerous CSR initiatives through the course of his professional journey to contribute towards the betterment of local communities.
