Muscat: Nearly two million people in Oman have been administered with the COVID-19 vaccine, since the start of the national immunisation campaign against the coronavirus.

1,926,307 people across the country have been vaccinated, representing 53 per cent of the targeted population.

So far, 1,587,784 have been provided the first dose of the vaccine (about 45 per cent of the people in the target groups), while 338,523 people have been given both doses.

The highest numbers of vaccinated individuals are in the capital: 618,264 people have been administered the jab in Muscat Governorate, representing 55 percent of those vaccinated. In second place comes North Al Batinah (234,808, or 39 per cent), followed by South Al Batinah (153,277, or 45 percent).
Vaccination centres in Oman continue to see a good turnout of people, as was the case before the temporary halting of the immunisation campaign during the total lockdown associated with the recent Eid Al Adha holidays.

The vaccination drive resumed on Sunday, 25 July 2021, for people aged 18 and above. Vaccinations are currently being provided to those who book appointments in advance. To book an appointment, please visit the website www.covid19.moh.gov.om, or login to the Tarassud+ COVID-19 monitoring app. This will enable a smooth and orderly vaccination process across the country.

On entering the site/app, those who wish to register for the vaccination must first fill in the governorate and wilayat they live in, and are requested to provide their date of birth and ID card number. Once these details have been provided, people must sign a vaccine declaration form indicating their willingness to take the jab.

On subsequently receiving a one-time PIN, registrants will then be able to select a vaccination centre of their choice, and their preferred appointment date. They will be then sent an appointment letter that they can bring with them on the day of their vaccination.

Figures released by the Ministry of Health show that 572 more people tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, 26 July, while 18 succumbed to the disease. This means that 294,526 people in Oman have contracted the virus since the start of the pandemic.

However, 723 more people have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries to 276,483. 53 people have been hospitalised due to complications from COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of patients in hospitals to 723. 292 of them are in ICUs.
