Middlesex University Dubai has announced its plan to expand in 2020 at Dubai Knowledge Park (DKP), part of Tecom Group, as the university continues to grow with a student population of more than 3,400.

The growth plans will enable Middlesex University Dubai to increase its capacity to accommodate up to an additional 1,000 students as well as expanding its programme portfolio.

The partnership was signed by Dr Mohamad Hamade, general manager, Middlesex Associates, and managing director of DKP, Mohammad Abdullah in the presence of Malek Al Malek, Group CEO of Tecom Group, and senior management from the University.

Dr Cedwyn Fernandes, pro vice-chancellor and director of Middlesex University Dubai said: “Since Middlesex University opened its first overseas branch campus in Dubai in January 2005, it has witnessed record student enrolment figures year-on-year, as we continue to launch new programmes in line with industry demand and an ever-changing market.”

“It is with great pride that we sign this contract with Tecom Group, formalising the campus expansion, which represents the tireless work of our staff and faculty as we continue to provide students with quality British higher education that will be the foundation they need to succeed and flourish after they graduate,” he added.

Mohammad Abdullah, Managing Director of Dubai Knowledge Park and Dubai International Academic City, said: “With the rising demand for quality international higher education in the region, and the significant progress the UAE has made towards building a knowledge-based economy, it is important for us to have universities such as Middlesex as part of our community, ensuring that students can benefit from internationally accredited degrees and programmes that meet the demands of jobs of the future.”

“Middlesex University was one of our first academic partners to launch an international branch campus here in our thriving education community. We congratulate the university on their continuous growth which will surely cement their reputation as a leading international university in the region,” he added.

The university campus recently underwent major refurbishments for the September 2019 intake of students. With the launch of the BA Honours Fashion Design degree programme, the University opened a specialist Fashion Studio, featuring a runway and other state-of-the-art equipment.

Supporting the demand for students to explore and understand emerging technologies, the University also launched a brand new Robotics Lab, Data Science Centre and a second Graphic Design studio equipped with advanced technology. – TradeArabia News Service
