Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed has announced the launch of awareness campaigns in sevengovernorates, on Saturday and Sunday, to provide health tips to citizens on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The step comes as part of the ministry’s efforts to encouragecitizens to follow precautionary and preventive measures amidEid Al-Fitr holidays, in order to reduce the COVID-19 infection rate in the country.

The campaign targeted Cairo, Alexandria, and Fayoum on Saturday. It is scheduled to continue on Sunday in Ras al-Bar city in Damietta governorate, Baltim city in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate, Giza, and Port Said.

The targeted governorates are among the most places that witness family gatherings on holidays and religious occasions.

The participating teams are educating citizens about the importance of adhering to preventive and precautionary measures, including wearing face masks, washing hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, being in well-ventilated places, and going immediately to the hospital if any symptoms of coronavirusappear.
