A salon in Dubai is on a mission to make nannies and helpers feel beautiful and pampered with free haircuts and styling.

The salon in Jumeirah Lake Towers, called 'That Hair Tho', started the initiative about three days ago and has already given free haircuts to 10 nannies.

The aim behind this initiative is to "give back to the community and to give a nice experience to the nannies", the owner of the salon, Kate Darling, told Khaleej Times.

"We've received a great response so far. The mission is to make sure the nannies and helper get a great experience and they leave feeling very pampered," Darling said. "We started this initiative because we wanted them to feel great and let them know that we appreciate all that they do for us.

"We try to give a free haircut and styling in the morning, afternoon and evening daily and the initiative is running until end of September. I think it's important for everyone in UAE to support each other while we are away from our families. Our nannies give us so much support while we are away from our families, helping us with our children and our homes. Nannies become part of our home as well and play a big role in our lives. It's important to show appreciation and this is just a little example of how.

"We all know how a fresh hair cut makes us feel. It not only changes our appearance but boosts are confidence on the inside. All the nannies who have come in so far have had non-stop smiles on their faces. It means a lot to feel appreciated and to get some pampering time with their families. It's a great girls day out where everyone is relaxed and enjoying."

Loreta Robles is a Filipina nanny in Dubai who received a free haircut from the salon. She's been working with her current sponsor for five years now.

She said: "We had a great time at That Hair Tho and Weng did a lovely haircut for me. I was very happy with it. Thank you to everyone and I hope more nannies go along."

Meanwhile, her sponsor Helen Farmer said that it felt great to see nannies and helpers being celebrated and pampers.

"Loreta is such an asset to our family and we adore her, so taking the time to go to the salon together was really lovely. Everyone was warm and welcoming, and we all left smiling," Farmer said.
