ALGIERS - Algerian medical and nursing staff have suffered 26 fatalities due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) and 1,515 infection cases since the outbreak of the pandemic, said the country's Minister of Health Abdulrahman bin Bouzaid.

In statements to the state-run TV station, the minister said the government would import a large number of Covid-19 testing equipment in the coming days in a bid to curb the surge in infections.

Earlier Sunday, his Ministry reported six deaths and 441 infections with the virus in the past 24 hours, which brought the death toll to 952 and the caseload to 15,941. (pickup previous) mr.gb
