The Ras Al Khaimah Department of Public Works has lit up the public roads, squares and bridges of the emirate, gearing up for the 48th UAE National Day.

Ahmad Al Hammadi, director-general of the department, said the lights and UAE flags add more joy to the celebrations. "The geometric shapes and accessories are derived from the words of the national anthem, while all the electric poles are covered with the UAE flags."

Many of the lights installed are shaped '48' while some of them are 3D, he added.
