KUWAIT CITY: Around 425,000 people are diabetic in Kuwait, making up 15 percent of the overall population, gdnonline.com reports. Endocrinologist and diabetician at Mubarak Hospital and Chairman of the Kuwait Diabetes Society Dr Waleed Al-Dhahi announced the alarming figures about the prevalence of the silent killer.

Addressing a press conference marking the World Diabetes Day, Dr Dhahi said that a total of 200,000 people living in Kuwait have yet to be examined. Dhahi said the Arab world has 39 million diabetics, and this number will double within 15 to 20 years
