Funds to be utilized in the development of Fujairah and Umm al-Quwain Autism Centre

Dubai - Emirates Islamic, one of the leading Islamic financial institutions in the UAE, contributed AED 200,000 to the UAE Ministry of Community and Development as part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts towards helping people with cognitive disabilities. The amount will be used in the development of the Fujairah and Umm al-Quwain Autism Center.

Through its Emirates Islamic Charity Fund, the bank is an active contributor to community health and development initiatives in the UAE, and has regularly made significant contributions to hospitals, health care programmes and social welfare institutions throughout the country.

Naji Al-Hai Mubarak, Assistant Undersecretary of Social Development Affairs from Ministry of Community Development said, “We highly value this initiative which reflects the growing sense of social responsibility among institutions and members of society in the UAE. Emirates Islamic’s contribution reflects the UAE’s spirit of generosity and contributes to its commitment to support its citizens and make them the happiest people in the world.”

Al-Hai Mubarak added that the UAE Ministry of Community and Development looks forward to further cooperation with Emirates Islamic towards supporting those in need. "It is not surprising that an established institution such as Emirates Islamic has a clear footprint in the area of community responsibility, charity and humanitarian work.”

Commenting on the announcement, Awatif Al Harmoodi, General Manager, Operational Governance, Emirates Islamic, said: “With our contribution, we hope to empower the lives of those children who need special assistance and contribute to the growth of world class disability-friendly facilities in the northern emirates. We aim to lead by example in public-private social responsibility through our work with organisations such as the Ministry of Community Development, and encourage others to do the same.”

In February, this year, Emirates Islamic contributed AED 1.72 million from its charity fund to the UAE’s Ministry of Health & Prevention, to support the purchase of 37 life-saving emergency devices, including defibrillators and adhesive pads, which are used to resuscitate heart patients undergoing a cardiac arrest.
