Ras Al Khaimah Police on Saturday extended the traffic fines discount initiative.

Under the initiative, 50 per cent discount on traffic fines would be given to motorists, who paid their fine within the first 50 days since it was issued.

A motorist would get a discount of 30 per cent for paying it after 50 days - onwards to 80 days.

No discount will be offered after 80 days.

According to local media reports, Major General Ali Abdullah Bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the RAK police, said that this is the 4thyear for the initiative since it was launched in 2015, emphasizing that it aims at reducing the numbers of violations and traffic accidents.

The number of deaths due to traffic accidents has decreased, Al Nuaimi noted.
