MANAMA: A Covid-19 patient who broke his home quarantine rules has been jailed for three years, reports Noor Zahra.

The 34-year-old expatriate was arrested after a video footage of him, outside a restaurant in Manama, was widely shared on social media.

The Asian was seen wearing an electronic bracelet given to Covid-19 patients under home quarantine.

The man appeared at the Lower Criminal Court yesterday where he admitted to violating Covid-19 rules.

“The defendant left his place of residence despite wearing an electronic bracelet,” read the court ruling.

“He will be jailed for three years and fined BD5,000.”

He will be deported after completing his sentence.
